It is named after Agustinus Adisucipto, a pilot who was killed during an attack on Maguwo by the Dutch on 29 July 1947, when his flight, the Dakota VT-CLA, was shot down. Based on the decision of the head of the Air Force staff No.76 of 1952. On August 17, 1952, the name Maguwo airbase was changed to an Adisutjipto airbase. (Source: Wikipedia )
